YOU WOULDN’T GO BEAR HUNTING WITH A BB GUN WOULD YOU?

Well that’s what we tend to find when we hear people’s stories who say they’ve already tried ozone.  Some people have discovered that ozone works to eliminate odors, and then attempt to do it themselves by buying or renting small ozone generators.

OCCUPANT SAFE OZONE GENERATORS

There are some ozone generators with such low outputs, that they are touted as safe for occupants in the presence of these machines while they are running.  We personally don’t believe people should be present during any level of deliberate ozone generation.  OSHA has standards for what are acceptably safe levels for people to be present.  Consider that if the output is low enough to be safe for you, then it is too low to be effective in killing and neutralizing odor causing contaminants.

“HIGH OUTPUT” OZONE GENERATORS

You can rent or even buy high output generators, however these are often still not adequate enough to rid a home of odor causing contaminants.  These machines often max out at about 3G/Hr of ozone.  By our standards this is barely enough to treat one 10′ x 10′ room of a house over night.  Some odors require more than one day of treatment.  So if you willing to move one of these small machines around the house over the course of several weeks, by all means.  Keep in mind, you shouldn’t even be in the same house with one of these machines running in a room.  The gas will leak out and/or get pushed out by your AC system.  For comparison, we often run up to 10 machines in a home with an output of 10G/Hr each.  So what’s going to be more effective, 100G/Hr or 3G/Hr?

AIR IONIZERS

Some people think air ionization is the same as ozone generation.  It is not, nor is it even close.  Air ionizers do not do the same thing as ozone gas.  Air ionizers only treat the air in a space, while ozone gas kills and neutralizes odor causing deposits on all the surfaces of a home.

CONCLUSION

You wouldn’t want to take a BB gun bear hunting, and so you shouldn’t assume air ionizers or low output ozone generators can achieve the same results as our services.
